PAUL RICARD 2020 REPORT

Victory for David Hart and Nicky Pastorelli with the Lola T70

The first race of the 2020 season was held at the French F1 Circuit Paul Ricard in the beautiful surroundings of Provence. During the first free practice session, the engines of the Cadillac LMP1 Sports car and the Ford Capri unfortunately failed, a real shame as both cars showed great potential for the race. The two remaining cars of the DHG Racing team, the Bizzarrini and the Lola, were dominant in qualifying, both holding pole position for the race.

The first race on Saturday evening, lasting a full 120 minutes, presented the first challenge for David and Olivier Hart. With a more than one-second lead in qualifying, things looked promising. David started, and Olivier was supposed to take over after the pit stop, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. David, currently in the lead, soon encountered problems with a leaking rear brake and was forced to retire.

On Sunday, it was the Lola’s turn, with David and Nicky once again starting from pole, this time even holding a 3-second lead over second place. David made a lightning-fast start with the Lola and maintained a strong pace until the pit stop, after which he handed the Lola the lead to Nicky. Nicky had no trouble at all, driving the Lola across the starting line with a comfortable 20-second lead over second place. He also set the fastest time on the final lap, by over 3 seconds. The DHG Racing team has secured their first victory!

The next race is scheduled for September 4-6: the Zandvoort Historic GP.
