BEAUTIFUL PODIUM FOR DHG RACING IN DIJON

A beautiful double podium in the Classic Touring Challenge was last weekend’s highlight for DHG Racing during a particularly fine racing event at the French circuit of Dijon.

In the Sixties Endurance class, the Bizarrini 5300 GT was immediately on pace. After a second-fastest time in free practice, Olivier seemed set for pole position in qualifying. However, a particularly strong lap that was almost a second faster than the competition was aborted due to an incident on track, resulting in the team being classified fourth in qualifying.

Unfortunately, that marked the end of the weekend for the Italian supercar, as an oil pump problem thwarted further progress. Bram Bontrup and Bas Jansen finished the race in the DHG Shelby Cobra in sixteenth place after a race in which they fought back from outside the top 20.

Aboard the Lola T70 MK3B, David and Olivier had a fine race in the Classic Endurance Racing 1 class. David started the race in ninth but skillfully fought his way forward. The constant battles for fourth and fifth place provided plenty of spectacle, and David eventually brought the car in fifth. Once Olivier took over, the pace remained high and the Lola began to close in on the top three in the race. Despite clocking one of the fastest laps of the race, Olivier did not have enough time to close the gap and had to settle for a fourth-place finish.

In the Classic Touring Challenge, Olivier qualified the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA in a strong fourth place, a good starting position for Sunday’s 60 minute race. For David, it was his first experience at racing speed with the Alfa, and the pace was immediately excellent. After a good start and an opening stint full of battles, Olivier took over the wheel during the mandatory pit stop. The Alfa remained one of the fastest and most consistent cars in the field, allowing Olivier to move up to second place, where the team ultimately finished. A great podium for DHG Racing, all the more so because Bas Jansen and Bram Bontrup also finished on the podium in third place in the DHG Racing-prepared Ford Mustang.

And so the magnificent weekend at the French circuit ended positively for DHG Racing, allowing the team to head into the summer with a great feeling.
