GOODWOOD REVIVAL REPORT

One way or another, things can go either way at Revival, and that was the case again this year. The highlight remains the RAC TT Trophy, with the finest grid imaginable. The Hart men did well with the Cobra, finishing fourth in practice. Due to the retirement of a crashed Ferrari, they were even allowed to start from the front row.
As the flag dropped, David was off like a rocket again, opening up a decent 5-second lead within a few laps. Fortunately, the battle was underway just behind him between the Cobras and the infamous Jaguar of Shedden/Ward. The heated battle for second place led to several collisions between the drivers, resulting in several time penalties later on. David kept his cool and, with his sublime, dancing driving style, managed to keep the Cobra in first place before pitting for the driver change.

After a super-fast stop, Olivier managed to rejoin the track in first place, just seconds ahead of the Shedden/Ward Jaguar. TV cameras quickly revealed an engine leak, causing young Olivier to quickly lose power in his Cobra.

In the following laps, he had the crowd on their feet, and all eyes were on the titanic battle between the youngster and the most experienced driver in the Jaguar. Olivier managed to stay ahead, with the Jaguar clearly visible in his mirrors. Eventually, the Jag managed to pass him, but Olivier didn’t give up and caught him back in a superb move on the inside of the corner. The race for P1 continued to fluctuate, but a severely overheated engine threw a wrench in the works, forcing the Hart/Hart Cobra to pit.

Both David and Olivier proved once again that they have what it takes to fight for the title again next year.

After a much-talked-about race, in which Olivier, at 18 years old and without a driver’s license, also earned the title of “Driver of the Day,” earning him a cool Rolex, it was the Lister Jaguar’s turn.

To repeat himself, it was no wonder David, starting from P2, took the corner first with a very strong field behind him. The very poor weather conditions played havoc with the Lister, and David lost a few places to the much lighter Ferrari and Lotus Climax. Once he found his rhythm, he managed to climb back up to P4, which was an excellent performance in itself.
