LE MANS CLASSIC 2018 REPORT

The legendary Le Mans circuit was once again the center of classic car racing this year. With over 150,000 spectators and favorable weather conditions, it was a true spectacle for both driver and machine.
The DHG racing team had once again put in a good effort this year: David with the GT40 and Lola, and Hans Hugenholtz making his debut with the Lister Jaguar.

Grid 4: David Hart Ford GT40.

Race 1
From the start (P3), things went well and David quickly took P2. However, due to speeding in slow zones, we received a 4-minute time penalty.

Race 2
Starting from P3 again, David in the yellow GT40 managed to move forward on the first lap, immediately taking the lead on the now darkened circuit, a position he would hold on to.

Race 3
Starting from P2, David had a chaotic start with a few tricky braking moments, but he managed to stay around P4. When the engine continued to run poorly due to a loose spark plug cable, he headed to the pits for his regular pit stop. David was able to continue his run, eventually finishing 8th with his fastest lap of the weekend.

Grid 5 David Hart Lola T703B

Race 1
Starting from P3, David immediately managed to mix it up with the two cars ahead of him and overtook them one by one, briefly taking the lead. After that, it was a hard-fought battle with the Liger against David’s Lola, with less than a second difference, resulting in a fantastic second-place finish.

Race 2
With a second-place start time, David was ready to take on the challenge. The race started well, but while in P2, a rocker broke on the third lap.

Race 3
Did not start due to engine problems.

Hans Hugenholtz finished third overall in the DHG Lister Jaguar, an excellent performance.
