HISTORIC GRAND PRIX ZANDVOORT 2018

DHG Racing performed well at Zandvoort during the Historic Grand Prix, winning two of the three races and securing second place. With a strong field this weekend, the results were bound to be good, especially if the cars didn’t let us down, which unfortunately was the case with one car!
The Masters races were once again a joy to watch. This time, our Alfa GTA was competing in this strong field, which secured the eighth-fastest time in practice. For the race, we had Tom Coronel, who had never driven an Alfa before. Tom delivered an extremely exciting race, which he also won against Andy Wolfe in the big Ford Falcon.

On Sunday morning, David and Tom faced another tough battle with the AC Cobra Daytona, which was dropped five places after its pole position on Saturday due to a penalty. David started and managed to keep up with the leading group well at the beginning of the race, but due to a poorly running engine, he couldn’t really push for victory. Coronel, who had taken over after the pit stop, unfortunately had to retire the car after 400 meters. Fortunately, our second Cobra did manage to reach the podium with Alexander van der Lof and Yelmer Buurman behind the wheel.

The practice session for the historic Sports Cars was already extremely exciting. With Hadfield in the Lola, he managed to stay just ahead of Hart and Pastorelli. The DHG Lola was ready to compete on Sunday, and it certainly succeeded. David drove a strong stint. With a few small Chevrons around him, he handed the car over to Nicky in the lead. Nicky performed excellently with the fastest lap time, and with an excellently prepared Lola, he and David won the race by over 15 seconds.
