ZANDVOORT 500 2018 REPORT

A strong performance by David and Olivier Hart in their Speedlover Porsche was rewarded with a fantastic third-place finish overall in a strong Porsche field.

After qualifying on Saturday morning, David and Olivier started from 9th place. Due to either ignoring or missing a yellow flag, they were dropped back five places – an annual tradition!

This time, Olivier started in the Porsche, which, like David, managed to lap in the 1:42s, very close to the pole time. Starting from P9 on the grid, Olivier immediately overtook several cars after a good start. Next up was the green Dodge of Hezemans, which didn’t have a great start. Hezemans also had to give in, giving Olivier a small touch, which didn’t affect the Porsche. As always, Olivier was determined to take the lead, and Mr. Hart did just that with a masterful braking maneuver in the Tarzan corner, overtaking the first and second cars and taking the lead himself.

After the pit stop, it was up to David to keep the car at the front of the field, which he did admirably. Due to some penalties, such as track limits for all drivers, the top three were constantly changing. Due to an undesirable armband stuck under the seat, the DHG team lost a few minutes, and we had to finish the race in a respectable third place.

Next race, January 5, 2019, we’re really going for the win and don’t want to be dogged by bad luck.
