ZANDVOORT 2020 REPORT

Triple overall win for DHG Racing and class victory at the Historic Grand Prix at Circuit Park Zandvoort.

Despite a minor impact from COVID-19, the organizers still managed to deliver a fantastic race weekend with challenging races and a friendly atmosphere. For DHG Racing, the addition of the Maserati MC12, which competes in the Masters Series, featuring the finest sports cars and GTs that raced between 1995 and 2015, presented an additional challenge. Timed practice went very well. David Hart narrowly beat his teammate Nicky Pastorelli to a strong fourth-place start, providing an excellent starting position for the first race. David made a great start and handed over the wheel in second position to Nicky Pastorelli, who, with three laps remaining, took over second place and held it until the checkered flag. A fine second place overall and class victory with the Maserati was the result of Race 1.

Race 2 was particularly exciting. Starting from P2, David Hart maintained his position and set consistently fast laps that would prove beneficial later in the race. Nicky took over after a long pit stop as the “Gold Driver,” working his way up from P6. Nicky quickly spotted Pedraza’s Oreca LMP2 and snatched victory from him by 0.1 seconds. A fantastic result for the DHG Team.

The race for the Gentleman drivers also proved particularly successful for the Hart men in the silver Bizzarrini. Starting from P2, David Hart was able to closely follow the Martin-Greensall Cobra. A puncture for the leaders and a stop-and-go for Olivier Hart allowed the Hart men to take the lead on lap 26 and cross the finish line first with the fastest lap time of the race. Last but not least, it was the turn of David Hart and Nicky Pastorelli’s Lola T70 to claim their third victory of the weekend. With a comfortable lead over second place during qualifying, the Lola managed to start from pole position. David Hart took the start again this time and maintained the lead, but Rossi’s Osella repeatedly gave him a hard time on track. Having dropped back to fifth at the pit stop, Nicky managed to stay ahead of the Osella and ultimately crossed the finish line first with a comfortable lead of over twenty seconds. Their third victory was secured.
