SUCCESSFUL GOODWOOD REVIVAL FOR DHG RACING

The Goodwood Revival meeting, one of the most important events on the historic motorsport calendar, was held last weekend in the south of Great Britain. On the beautiful Goodwood circuit, the DHG Racing team of David and Olivier Hart caused a sensation in every race they entered and consistently fought for victory.

Olivier and David Hart shared the Ferrari 250GT SWB in the 60 minute race for the Stirling Moss Trophy, held on Saturday afternoon. Starting from fifth, David had a brilliant start and immediately moved up to second place, after which the DHG team continued to fight for the podium throughout the race. After the mandatory driver change, the Ferrari proved to be very close to the leader, and Olivier steadily closed the small gap until he was on the tail of the AC Cobra driven by BTCC star Andrew Jordan. However, an overtaking opportunity did not materialise as the race was just too short, but a fantastic second place was a great result for the drivers and the Ferrari.

Olivier Hart and former F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez shared the lightning fast Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA in the St. Mary’s Trophy for touring cars from the sixties. In this format, both drivers competed in a 25 minute race. Gutierrez qualified seventh and fought his way to fifth place in the first race, but the real fireworks came in the second race where Olivier continuously took on the massive Ford Galaxies and the iconic Lotus-Ford Cortinas. In this touring car battle, Olivier pulled out all the stops, including several moments on the grass, to reach the podium. The Alfa finished the race in second, but the podium in the combined results proved just out of reach with a fourth place finish.

In the Sussex Trophy, the race for sports cars built between 1955 and 1960, DHG Racing also treated the British public to a true spectacle. In the field of nearly thirty cars, David qualified fifth with the Lister-Jaguar Costin, while Olivier impressively put the Maserati 300S, a car older and less powerful than the rest of the field, in ninth on the starting grid.

A fantastic start ensured that the Lister, with its special aerodynamic body, moved forward immediately, and David took the lead of the race right away. An excellent battle with Sam Hancock in his Ferrari 246S ensued, but the red Italian sports car retired after a handful of laps. However, this did not mean David could cruise to the finish unchallenged; far from it, as James Cottingham in his Tojeiro closed the gap and launched an attack for the lead.

The battle for the final victory was decided by a few millimetres here and there, but ultimately the Tojeiro managed to pass the Lister, and David had to settle for second place after a magnificent race. Olivier also drove a strong race, despite the fact that the Maserati had to compete against cars it would never have faced in period. After a strong start, he settled into seventh place, a position he held until the finish. This was a result Olivier could be more than satisfied with.

Thus, the 2022 edition of the Goodwood Revival ended without a victory, but with three fantastic events and enough silverware as motivation for next year, it was nevertheless a very successful event for DHG Racing.
