EXCELLENT GOODWOOD MEMBERS MEETING FOR DHG RACING

DHG Racing delivered an outstanding performance during the 80th Goodwood Members Meeting. Both David Hart in the Salvadori Cup and Olivier Hart in the Gordon Spice Trophy fought for victory and earned valuable points for Darnley House in the traditional battle between the Goodwood houses.

In the Salvadori Cup, intended for sports cars built between 1955 and 1960, David Hart had to fight his way forward. Starting from ninth place, the Lister Jaguar Costin made short work of the competition as David found his way to the front. He was already fifth after one lap, and two laps later the Lister moved up to second position. What followed was a fascinating battle with Martin Stretton. David gave it his all, setting the fastest lap in the process, but on the fast yet narrow Goodwood circuit, he could not find a way past the Briton and had to settle for a very strong second place.

There was also a podium finish for Olivier Hart in the first heat of the Gordon Spice Trophy for touring cars up to 1982. With the large and heavy Chevrolet Camaro Z28, Olivier qualified impressively in third place despite the fact that he was largely unfamiliar with the car, and he carried that good feeling into the race. In the first heat, Olivier fought a fantastic battle with former world champion Rob Huff and BTCC driver Jake Hill, finishing third within one and a half seconds of the winner.

The top fifteen from this race were allowed to compete in the final of the Gordon Spice Trophy against the top fifteen from the other heat. With a sixth-place spot on the starting grid, everything seemed possible for Olivier. However, a broken battery thwarted those plans and the Camaro was unable to start.

That disappointment, however, should not overshadow the satisfaction of a strong weekend at Goodwood, as with two podium finishes, the second event of the season was also successful for DHG Racing.
